Music business change

Eight-track tapes were big when Tom Headlee opened his House of Sight and Sound in 1971, and long-playing vinyl albums were the staple in music sales.

As his business established a base of loyal clientele and moved -- from two locations in downtown Salina to the present home at 1300 S. Santa Fe -- Headlee's store has seen the move to cassette tapes, compact discs and, most recently, the digital age.

"It's definitely hurt," Headlee said of technology. But the down economy has done more damage.
