Book discussion to be over 'Our Boys'
The Salina Public Library's Monday Night Book Discussion will be over "Our Boys" by Joe Drape. The discussion will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 in the library's Tech Center Conference Room. Attendance is free.
"Our Boys," the Kansas Center for the Book's 2012 Kansas Reads selection, offers a portrait of the extraordinary Smith Center High School football team and its quest for perfection. Drape, a Kansas City native and an award-winning sportswriter for The New York Times, moved his family to Smith Center to discover what makes the team and the town an inspiration. His stories of the coaches, players and parents reveal a community fighting to hold on to a way of life that is rich in value, even as its economic fortunes decline.
A limited number of copies will be available for check-out at the library.
For more information, call Nancy Jo Leachman at (785) 825-4624, email nancyjo@salpublib.org or visit the library at 301 W. Elm.
